I totally agree. unable to access is totally different than declined.I felt embarrassed at the shop counter. Shouldn’t have been, because I had a backup card that worked, and also cash. But I was.I had the same thing many years ago with a Wells Fargo card where all the vendor got was declined. It too was for system maintenance.
We have a friend who lost her job as in internal bank examiner in her late 50's. Applied for many jobs, did several positive interviews, then dead silence. Ultimately she found out why, when she knew the hiring person, who told her. Seems all in the hiring people use the same online college record system to verify college. Turns out she graduated UC Berkley 2 years before the computer record went back, and all the record system reported was record not found, not grad year before our records. This was about 10 years ago.
