Filters don’t matter. Oil matters and oil change interval matters. Also interesting that, even though you state that "Bore scoring can result if particulates are too high", you also state that you use the "cheapest no-name oil filter I can find". Seems like a contradiction.
Interesting observations that leave all kinds of questions.....
- I hope that you mean you get the oil analysis done just 'prior' to the new oil and not 'after' every oil change.
- How do you pull your oil sample?
- Which specific oil diluents (listed) are rising and/or high which suggest a change at 6K miles is warranted?
- What are your TBN and TAN numbers are you getting that suggest an oil change is needed?
- How much are the costs for a single Blackstone test now?
- Which oil do you use (make and exact grade/type) and why use a cheap oil fliter?
Which make. model, and engine are you testing above?
