Like RossKevin, I was certainly financially illiterate in my 20's. I wasn't earning much money though, until I hit 25 and finished the PhD. I was told that "401K good", so I contributed to that until I was 30, but did very little other investment. Got married in my early 30's to a woman who knew a lot more than I did about passive investment (still married to her today), that is when the light came on for me. I guess I chose well in marriage!
