First thing that came to mind was a gym membership and strength training. So many small aches and pains have disappeared making jobs around the house easier.

My tool for arthritic hands: a small piece of flat, thin rubber material to grip those jar lids that seem to be welded in place. My first one came in a "welcome package" from my realtor when I became a home owner for the first time in the 1960's, and I've kept the idea as my aging hands lose their grip. Sets of rubber grippers are sold in stores like Walmart. Or cut a gripper from a piece of rubber in your collection of things "too good to throw away."

In a pinch, wear a pair of rubber gloves, one on each hand--grab the lid with one hand, the jar with the other to make a secure grip.
