Good info! And much appreciated.I’m a diehard YBAB user and recently moved away from Fidelity’s 2% card after many years, partly because of the poor sync support in YNAB. So this question is right up my alley. What’s the TL;DR for someone just now finding this thread? I’m looking for a 2% cash back card that syncs well with YNAB (so not Fidelity’s).
I saw someone else recommend the Wells Fargo Active Cash 2% card. It syncs with YNAB using OAuth, which is good because neither YNAB or their sync providers ever see your Wells Fargo username or password. But - and this is a huge caveat - YNAB doesn’t sync pending transactions from Wells Fargo credit cards. This was ultimately a no-go for me as I make heavy use of pending transactions in YNAB.
I eventually settled into the Bank of America credit card ecosystem. I moved $100k of investment assets to Merrill Lynch and my daily driver BoA credit card pays 2.6% cash back. The sync with YNAB is rock-solid, it uses OAuth, and pending transactions sync perfectly. I also use them for checking, also connected via YNAB.
The setup works very well and the cash back is quite nice. Highly recommended from one YNAB user to another. Good luck!
