My brief testimony.

At the age of 60 I acquired a half rack with nice bench and Olympic bar and 405 pounds of Olympic weights.

Twice read the book and then many times watched the related DVD before I did my first exercise.

He devotes 80 pages in his book on just how to do a proper squat!

I noticed immediate results.

I start with squat, press, and deadlift. Finish with arm curls. Next time all the same except it's the bench press instead of the press.

Do it Monday / Wednesday / Friday.

This past June something happened so that I have left leg weakness. It mainly affects my ability to get off the ground and overall balance. Does not affect walking in any way.

I'd last played basketball last May. Because of this leg weakness thing which started out with some pain I'd done no running of any kind since July.

Last Friday I ran for 11 minutes in my living room prior to do the barbell work. Did the same this Monday.

Monday I went to play basketball for the first time since last May. I'm 74 1/2. I was guarding a 78-year-old, who played high school basketball and is a much better player than me. But also in the game were two kids who are seniors in high school and who are on the school's basketball team. Next oldest to us was early 30s. Had an early 20s guy on my team (along with the better high school player) who was regularly stuffing the ball.

I played in all the games. For the 1.5 hours we played I did 5,000 steps. Not once breathed hard.

When I came home it was like I'd not even done anything. Contrast that to when I played basketball at the same place when I was in the late 20s. I had all I could do to get out of the car, through my kitchen door, to then collapse on my couch. Then I had no muscles: Now I do.

I attribute all of that to my regular barbell work. Which has made me a barbell evangelist these last 14.5 years!
