Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Is guaranteed issue truly guaranteed?

I'm new to the Medicare process and currently in the initial enrollment window. I have signed up for a Group Advantage PPO plan (exclusive to retirees of my former employer) and would be happy to commit to stay on it for life. I understand from a plan consultant that if for some reason the plan/contract is cancelled in the future (aIways possible), I would be guaranteed to be able to switch to a Medigap plan G (but not N) without medical underwriting (I do have pre-existing conditions) or financial penalty. I'd like confirmation if the advice I received is correct, or whether I would be taking a risk that guaranteed issue might not apply in the future. For reference, my resident state is New Jersey.
