Traveling into Austin from Bee Caves is not fun, although retired maybe you can do that during "off-peak" times. Interstate 35 is under major (unprecedented) reconstruction and will be for the remainder of your life--widening to 22 lanes. Other arterials are clogged like someone who eats too much Texas BBQ ($40/lb at Franklin!!!). Toll roads can help some, but get quite costly in peak periods. The Austin "cool factor" has worn off some, causing a bit of real estate stagnation, but probably not in the affluent areas you are looking at. Working from home has reduced traffic slightly. Airport is very good and busy, but difficult to get to from Bee Cave. Sections of 71 are always under construction. I think you would find yourself making fewer and fewer trips into town due to various factors, mostly traffic. I won't mention the politics and unhoused people, you should read about it yourself.
