Personal Consumer Issues • Coffee Bean Brand for Gaggia espresso maker

So what does it mean when the "red bean light" goes on? Maybe the machine is broken. I recently bought a nice Jura machine, it stopped working after 6 weeks, I returned it for repair and Jura has been holding my machine hostage for the past 3 weeks. I doubt the Gaggia requires that you have to be so incredibly particular about beans, though I have heard about the oily bean problem with superautomatics.
I think if your Jura lasted only 6 weeks, it was defective. Ours hasn't been entirely trouble free, but is going to hit 20,000 cups here in the next week or two. A friend of mine had one for 15 years of daily use before it died on him. This Jura is our third super-automatic machine, and it's the first one that hasn't ever had trouble with the oily dark roasts that we like.
