I have an Amex Platinum, and I don’t see any complexity in getting value out it. It costs 900/yr now (was 700/ yr when I got it). But I get 200 from Schwab, use the Resy credit for a dinner out every quarter (400), and get 25/month (300/yr) discount on my streaming services. That pays for the card. The travel benefits (like lounge access) and all the other benefits are “bonus” - I can enjoy them as much or as little as I want. So far I have used hotel for my upcoming Australia trip (300) and a couple of deliveries on Uber Eats - and several trips to the lounge. And free access to Paramount+ via Walmart.
