It sounds like you've got a plan that you're (a) fully informed about, and (b) comfortable with. That's what counts the most
Yes, I think so. Like most important decisions I have made, right or wrong, I wanted to make sure I have thoroughly considered and understood as many faucets as I know how and made a deliberate choice. When the outcomes met my expectations I credited myself for being wise, and for those didn't I blamed it on either the lack of information/intelligence at the time or simply the circumstances. :happy
Just to confirm - you currently own the Fidelity Personal Retirement annuity - is that right? If so, you've made a great, low-cost choice. If not, you really ought to look into it. (Some of the postings upthread are a little confusing, so I'm not sure exactly what you own.)
Yes, that's right. This is the account I opened during my higher earning years, seeking for tax reliefs then. I have had it for the last 17 years. In addition to its low cost feature, it would allow me to manage it any way I want until my 90th birthday, the date by which you must either withdraw entirely or annuitize. So, I guess I still have some time for the eventual exit. The only downside to me is that the mutual fund choices are not the greatest, and earnings/incomes are always reinvested.
Let us know if you have any questions as you continue on your annuity journey.
Yes sir! Once I get a clear idea of what a workable plan is, the implementation will be quite the fun actually. :beer
