You are correct. FA fee is 0.5 percent with fund fees about 0.4 percent so in total FA told me about 0.9 total. It’s funny when I talked to Vanguard about transferring her money they said bring your money to us, we can do better. Schwab said the same thing. My Aunts fee only FA told me he told her to switch to Schwab fifteen years ago and consolidate accounts. She never did. He also told me bring my money to him.Thirty years ago I got burnt by an American Express FA. Took 7 percent upfront load and put me in one and two star morning star funds. Although balanced my solo Dodge and Cox balanced fund always beat his cookie cutter template. Thank you again.I thought the FA was .5% and the fund fees averaged .4%? That's not the same as the FA wanting .9%, but in any case even .9% wouldn't exactly be an unreasonable FA fee, depending partly on the amount of assets under management. A lot of us have experience paying more like 3% in combined FA and investment fees.
