If you can use the 457 plan, and it provides things you need, then evaluate it on its merits, without worrying about whether the state of Illinois does this or that regarding something else."easier and cheaper" isn't always the best way to go.It seems like the easiest and cheapest option for the district, if allowed, would be to participate in the state 457b plan. Easiest and cheapest also means most likely to succeed. Have you looked into this option?
