Hamnet
Directed by Chloé Zhao, this was a very sensitive and moving drama starring the superb Jessie Buckley and supported by Paul Mescal as the young William Shakespeare. Not one to cry at the movies, this one got the tears to flow. Though much of the story may be fictionalized, the young family did grow up in the dark times of the bubonic plague. A very emotional drama, if you enjoy those. Seen in theater. Four and a half stars out of 5.
Saw it yesterday as well and it will likely be making noise come award season. Not having read the book, which I'm told is excellent, I had to keep track of a number of the characters (Wait' who is that again?). A couple of the scenes were difficult to watch. I didn't see the end coming but when I did I realized everything was coming together and it was pretty special.
I'm not spoiling anything by telling you as the movie opens there is a note that in those historical times, Hamlet and Hamnet were names considered to be the same name.
There's a line about London buses "You wait forever and then 3 come along at once".**

Sort of feel that with film. We have:

- A House of Dynamite (probably too depressing, and too focused, to be a winner)
- Nuremberg (Russell Crowe's role as Herman Goering in particular)
and from what you say, Hamnet.
