I spend a lot of time in Europe, and whenever I’ve considered one of these Golden Visa programs I’m unclear on how they relate to Schengen Area restrictions. If an American gets residency in Malta, Portugal, etc, do you have the same freedom of movement as a regular European citizen? Or is it only that you’re allowed to reside full time in the European country that grants you residency, and travel to other Schengen Area countries is still limited to 90 out of every 180 days, as it is for U.S. tourists?
