Your mention of an umbrella claim is really interesting - it is very hard to find specific real-life reports about performance of an umbrella policy. Can you give some more details about your experience with the policy in this case? Don't need to know anything about the incident, but rather how the claims process and base and umbrella coverage worked together.Just received my State-Farm $1M umbrella renewal due next month. Was $232/yr , now $323, a 43% increase. When I called agent with unrelated question, was told that here in Connecticut, S-F would write no new umbrellas , but existing ones are "grandfathered".![]()
I've had the policy 20 years, and was very glad to have it 5 years ago when it paid a $400,oo settlement due to my only at-fault accident in 25 years.
Also very interesting that they allowed you to continue to renew. Was there an immediate price increase, reduction in coverage, or any exclusions?
Thanks!
