Thanks for sharing that is helpful. I spoke to my neighbor who used the same contractor and went with Kohler for everything and hers was $55k, so she suggested for certain items to go with less expensive items to stay withing budget(she also replaced the jacuzzi with a tub, whereas I just want shelving/storage there instead). I would like to stay within $40k budget.I'm just finishing up a smaller bathroom remodel on two bathrooms (total = 160 sq. ft).
Approximate costs:
* Two semi-custom vanities (42", 84"), quartz countertops, sinks, cabinet hardware, labor - $4,000; (note - countertop slabs were free as they were remnants from a kitchen remodel, just paid for fabrication)
* Porcelain floor tiles - $1,000
* Labor for flooring installion - $1,500
* Grout - $45
* Toilet (1) - $300
* Labor to install one new toilet and reinstall one existing toilet after flooring installation - $150
* Toilet wax rings (2) - $12
* Light fixtures (3) - $300
* Electrician to install 3 light fixtures and relocate outlets and light switches (as new vanities are taller) - $400
* Drywaller to repair wall damage from relocating outlets/switches and removing old lights and mirrors - $300
* Paint - free (already had it), labor - free (did it myself)
* Mirrors (3) - $420 - installation by cabinet maker (included in labor cost)
* Faucets (3) - $260
* Plumber to install three faucets - $300
Total - $8,987 (rounds to $9,000)
I understand your remodel is much larger but thought it might be helpful to see costs for a smaller job. No shower/tub remodel, no layout changes, no designers, no general contractor. The vanities are from a custom cabinet maker, the tile from a specialty flooring store, the remaining items I bought from Home Depot/Amazon. I live in a MCOL area.
I will go to some retailors to get ideas of what I like/want. Thoughts on getting everything from a Home Depot/Lowes/Wayfair? I understand even within those retailors there are various brands/levels. Are there specific things recommended to get a higher quality then others? For example, tiles and toilet. Product brands I should consider for quality?
