We've got a similar endorsement with a similar premium on our policy. Our house has a basement and is on the side of a hill and there's a creek about 300 feet away. For such little cost, I see it as protection against basement issues or other things that might crop up that aren't normally covered. The last thing I want is to have an issue and be denied over $60 bucks or so.
It'll cover more than a standard flood policy will even though the limits are smaller. For an actual flood policy to pay, there's a whole list of items that have to occur.
The agent is making 15% of the premium amount on average. If he's an employee of a larger agency, that % is getting split before he ever sees it.\
With a storm drain nearby, I think it'd be wise to have. Like others have mentioned, they're the first to flood and the last to get looked at by maintenance crews.
