Is there an I-bond calculator that can help me answer the questions below? I have looked and couldn't find one. I worked on answering them with Excel. It would be nice to have a way to confirm my math.
1. I have an I-bond. Should I sell it now and buy a Money Market? I want to spend the money in 3 years.
2. Should I buy an I-bond or a Money Market now that I will spend in 3 years?
The year is an example. I am looking for answers that are for a short time period, 1-5 years.
The calculator should account for:
- Taxes
- 3-month interest penalty if the I-bond is sold before 5 years of ownership
- Different future rates (I could put in estimates of future rates rather than using current ones)
