The line 14 instructions say specifically to include OBBB items like the enhanced senior deduction not already considered on the form when you calculate your tax. From what you say, TT is correctly adjusting the tax behind the scenes.I've been doing a side-by-side test of the two and noticed that TT and FreeTaxUSA are handling the additional senior deduction differently on 2210-AI. 2210-AI has no officially defined place to deduct it.
TT just assumes it in the tax calculation. If line 13, the annualized taxable income is $100,000, then on line 14 (tax on the amount on line 13), TT calculates the tax on $88,000 (we're a couple so get a $12,000 additional deduction).
But you can't adjust column 4 can you? That is fixed based on your full-year AGI.OTOH, FreeTaxUSA is ignoring it. I have to force it by deducting ($3,000 in Q1 and so forth) from my line 1 amount which while labeled as "Enter you adjusted gross income for each period", the instructions say "For each period (column), figure your total income minus your adjustments to income." Since there's no place else on 2210-AI to deduct the additional senior deduction, I consider it an adjustment to go into the line 1 amount.
How is the tax calculation for that column?
