Thanks. I agree, so many years of good markets makes it seem like the only way is up. In 2020, I didn’t sell but I felt very panicked knowing college was only 6 years away (and at that time, this 529 was 90/10). I would hate to experience that feeling again. I suppose if you asked me if I had $20K in a HYSA right now earmarked for college, would I invest it, I’d say No. I need to remember that.Sounds like you have little need or ability to take risk with this money with a short time horizon. You're concerned about not having enough for 4 full years, how would you feel if the markets tanked and you had less than 2 years funded? The last 12 years have been stupidly good for stocks. You won, don't lose because of greed. And at 20/80 you will still benefit if the market's performance continues.Nope. Only 401K and HSA. We have no brokerage account and very little savings. Our retirement is on track but technically we’re cash poor. Hence the anxiety around not messing up the 529 at the finish line. It’s our only means of paying for DD’s college, outside of loans. She’ll still need some of those anyway. I have a “need” to take risk I suppose, and a willingness. But not necessarily the ability, at least with these particular funds.
