Do you have a specific fund in mind?

VOO (S&P500), for example, doesn't rebalance. (And it's pretty straightforward to beat it using "dispersion" investing. See many examples here. A couple of examples above (splitting VT; splitting VTI) demonstrate this directly.)

LifeStrategy funds, OTOH, rebalance frequently to maintain the target asset class allocation percentages.
