Personal Investments • Retirement savings on good path: Spend or save now?

I'm super torn on this one.

I feel like I'm in a similar position. Similar age, numbers, and will have a pension in my 50's which will cover most of our spending. We personally had my spouse stay home for the last 4 years while raising kids. We will return to a two income household in a few months.

Have you read Die With Zero? I don't agree with all of it but the good parts are good enough to make you rethink certain things in your life.

My initial reaction is to say go ahead and ramp down the savings. On the other hand, it's hard for me to say you should be saving a lot less than 10% of your combined income (plus pension contributions).

Seeing how you have saved this much and plus saved for college, all on a lower income, how are you not spending a lot more currently than you've spent over the last few years?

At the end of the day, you have to do what feels right for you.

Also, forget the people that are saying you should have soooooo much more saved. You guys are already in the top few percent of savers, you're doing amazing.

Good luck!
