I'm looking for some loudspeaker recs for a system that I'll be setting up soon. When my dad passed away, I was fortunate enough to be able to get his McIntosh components, which have some sentimental value to me but also should be a big step up from my earlier setups.
The gear I'll be using is:
- McIntosh C33 Preamp
- McIntosh MC2150 Amp
- McIntosh MR77 Tuner
The Mac gear was across the country so I invested in double-boxes from Audio Classics, which worked great. The staff there suggested that it probably wasn't worth shipping Dad's old McIntosh XR5 speakers, so that's the big gap I need to fill.
- Tutntable to be determined
I currently use a pair of Cambridge Model Six speakers and they're fine, but they seem a bit undersized for the Mac amp — but it's been a long time since I gave audio equipment much thought, so I'm kind of a noob (or at least relearning this stuff). One key bit of info is that I don't really have a space that's great for a big "altar to hifi" setup. Something small is probably best for now.
