What do you want the financial advisor to do for you that you don't know how to do for yourself? What is it you think you're missing out on that they can help you with? Once I know that, I can probably suggest a less expensive way to obtain that information for you.

To me, this is the $64,000 question. Why did the Original Poster seek the services of a Financial Advisor in the first place? We can't really answer the question properly until this question is answered. Hint: Going to an Advisor to beat the market averages is not a good reason.
