Real estate is one of few assets subject to a confiscatory tax, namely the property tax. It is possible to impose tax liability that accumulates to exceed the value of the asset and without regard to income or return. Investment assets in stocks and bonds are not subject to such a direct tax. A direct tax on investment wealth is a discussion.

At this point discussion ensues of the constitutionality and direct tax concept.
Subjectively similar to stock dividend taxation. 4% historic stock dividend average 20% taxation = 0.8%/year compared to 0.8%/year property tax.
