Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Crazy Uber Story - Sponsorship I-130

The craziest stories I've heard have been from an Uber driver.

If the Uber driver genuinely needed a few hundred dollars, why don't they simply work a few long days? Whatever happened to people working overtime for extra money? I can't imagine begging customers to pay my bills.
The way uber driving has disintegrated since Uber went public has been devastating to those who have relied on it as a full-time job/income. You could suggest “get a new job” but that just isn’t realistic for many of these older and unskilled workers who are now in this dire situation. OP’s driver is likely already working long days (10+ hours daily, six or seven days a week), and $675 is about his net over a two-week period…there simply aren’t enough hours left in the workweek to earn “overtime”. This man is living a bare-bones existence here in America while also probably sending money back to his home country to support family there.

Good on you, OP. The $675 (hopefully) isn’t life-changing money to you, but it could be for your uber driver. If he comes back to you again for anything other than a ‘thank you’, then you’ll know you’ve been scammed.
