Understandable.

They are just looking out for their interests.

I think the lesson is: one encounters such things at higher price points.

When I was searching for mine last year I ended up going with a dedicated apartment building which avoids the individual owner problem so it was all very professional tick the boxes although I had to prove my resources since my pension alone didn't meet their standards for income.
