Investing - Theory, News & General • Ramit Sethi on the usefulness of advisors

Watched some of the Ramit episode referenced in this thread. Really good discussions with that couple. Clearly a need for some financial planner/consulting/one time advisor around minute 15-20 on the podcast.

Most of us (including BH’s) are closer to that couple than we think imo (even Ramit admitted to paying for an advisor).

Getting a second opinion is healthy and needed by everyone.
It could partially be done by portfolio reviews here. A reminder I need my annual checkup/BH review soon.

Actually talking thru a/the plan with your partner and advisor is perhaps the most important outcome. Actually being on the same page, which is easier sometimes with a third party facilitator/advisor.

I try to make the most of any free advisory services.
There may come a time in 4-5 years I’m ok paying a few thousand for a full comprehensive review with spouse in tow.
