Personal Finance (Not Investing) • No college choice really

My daughter took the then full tuition Presidential Scholarship at Alabama over an acceptance to Notre Dame! We had saved the money with to send her to ND for four years. Since we only had to spend a fraction of that, we used the remainder (and a little extra) to pay for all four years of her medical school - she had 3 MD acceptances coming out of Alabama, including a highly regarded BIG10 medical school.
Notre Dame is an extraordinary place with a great alumni network, and for my money, was an excellent undergraduate experience. But if your plan is med school after graduation, that puts ND-IUSB squarely on the "why bother" list. As much as it pains me to say it, your daughter made the right decision. Actually, two right decisions (the other being to marry a Domer!)
This is incorrect. Notre Dame has a phenomenal reputation for placing its graduates in top medical school programs across the country.
