Personal Consumer Issues • Traveling within Japan cities - Metro or Taxi?

There's no Uber in Japan. The taxi drivers don't speak English. You'll probably have better luck with the subway because at least there are English signs and Apple Maps / Google Maps will give you specific directions for transit. Just avoid rush hour unless you like being squeezed like a sardine.
We were in Tokyo last summer and used Uber quite often. It's a taxi that picks you up but you can still use Uber. Pubic transit is still probably the best way to go but you 100% can "uber" to many places, just more pricey.
