Personal Investments • New to investing stocks (non retirement bucket)

Do I purchase ETFs or mutual funds? I just opened an account with Vanguard to fund my ROTH. Does this give me ACCESS TO BUY NON-RETIREMENT STOCKS OR DO I HAVE TO OPEN UP SOMETHING SEPARATE?
You need to open a taxable brokerage account in addition to your Roth which should be easy. They'll be two separate accounts that show up above and below each other when you log in.

You can buy either mutual funds (more like putting money in a savings account) or ETFs (more like buying individual stocks). I favor ETFs in taxable and recommend you stick with Total US stock market VTI and Total International stock market VXUS, these ETFs also have mutual fund equivalents.

The wiki has a lot of information and more people will chime in with opinions.
