Personal Finance (Not Investing) • We saved nothing for college...BUT...

Thank you for the reply.
You seem to be concerned about having to stop retirement contributions to pay for your kids college. I had 2 main financial goals:
- save enough for a comfortable retirement
- make sure I helped my kids get through college.

While retirement was my primary goal I chose not to starve my secondary goal to satisify it. It sounds like you might want to oversave for your primary goal at the sacrifice of a secondary goal.
I am not trying to give you a hard time - just sharing my perspective. A lot of folks think "save for retirement first" means you can't take your foot off the pedal to do other things in life that may be important to you. This is where I disagree. I happily delayed early retirement to get my kids thru college (and it sounds like you don't even need to do that - just need to slow down the excess retirement savings).
