Yeah, that might be a good option. In short, it won't. The ones we have are vent mounted, which we use despite having one built into the vehicle that works fairly well. The built in ones that work - even your Toyota - are only charging at 7.5w which isn't enough to keep up if you're using GPS, streaming music, etc. They are often also in a position where there is little airflow so get very hot.How will that fit into/on top of the built in charger or charger space?A good quality case will allow it to sit flat, but wireless non-magnetic charging is always a game of trying to find the sweet spot.
As mentioned, I'd get a genuine magsafe integrated mount and charger. Get a good one that does 15w charging (these are relatively expensive) and you get charging nearly as good as a cable, plus no futzing with a cord every time you get in and out of the car. We put these in both of our vehicles - best chargers/car mount setup we've ever had.
Also, what charger is Toyota using in my 2023 RX350h? It works flawlessly.
We have a couple of these, but I like this Belkin model best. We got it at like 40% off during a sale.
Alternatively you could just get the Apple official magsafe charger and connect that to USB and place it in the cubby where the OEM wireless charger sits.
But I disagree about the built in charger in my Lexus. Drove a 6 hour trip using Google Maps and some music and arrived with 100% charge.
