Personal Consumer Issues • Whole house ELECTRIC backup - PowerWall? Alternatives?

Re natural gas and locating/functionality…

- what does code require? Distance from structure, windows, sliding glass doors, air Intake openings?
- what type of pad/ raised surface will you need?
- what size gas lines will you need, over and above usage requirements for existing appliances?
- what decibel limitations will there be?
- will a new panel be required? Will that necessitate replacing current breakers to new specs? GFIC, Arc Fault…. Will that expose current wiring issues?
- what will you do to manage load? Timing of AC units? Sub panel for critical loads?

There is much to consider. Consult with a reputable electrician and generator installer.
So there are portable generators that accept natural gas.

Does code still apply to these?

Our backyard is tiny so I’m not sure we could meet code - in 2021 we dragged a standby generator company out here and they said “ Unfortunately there is not enough space for a standby generator to be installed and pass City of *** codes”
