I've seen this exact comment in multiple postings, and I cannot see how it in any way is helpful to the OP, or relevant to the many people on this forum who have not been in that tax bracket since they were old enough to drink, and will never see that tax bracket ... ever. Ever. Glad it works for you, but it's irrelevant. Some people just don't get to convert at that rate - ever.Does not sound like a good plan to me.
I annually move dollars into Roth status at federal tax cost of 12%, or less.
A helpful comment would be more like: You should calculate what your tax bracket will be under multiple possible scenarios in your future, and try to smooth out the taxes over your lifetime, or that of your heirs.
