Personal Investments • confused about getting the help of an advisor

Hello and thank you in advance for the help.
I have a taxable account, an IRA and a Roth IRA with Vanguard. Next year I will have to do RMD for my IRA. I am not sure if I would know what to sell, how to plan for taxes (the RMD would be about $50,000), reinvest this money, also give to charities via QCD and probably more which I do not even know.
I have been investing in few funds during my working years and never changed anything since 2014 (well I did switch from mutual funds to ETF, but keeping the same type). The mix is 50% bonds and 50% stocks including international.
I spoke to an advisor from Covenant Wealth Advisors, and he told me I would have to transfer to Fidelity (Vanguard does not allow outside managers) and then showed me a hypothetical portfolio. He would have kept very little with Vanguard, increase the number of holdings, and invest much more with Dimensional and Avantis. He said they are value rather than growth assets, and of course their expense ratio is higher.
Also, they charge a 1% up to 1,000,000 and .8 above that for their services.
I have been reading about RMD and all the tax implications, however things are confusing, riddled with acronyms and percentages that I really do not know where they come from.
You might ask why not use a Vanguard advisor... well I tried, but they refused to help me because I spend several months out of the country (in Italy, my native country) and therefore I am considered a foreign investor. Nice move right when I actually would have appreciated some help.
I hope someone can shed some light and help with this decision in some way.
Thank you very much,
dali

Convenant Wealth Advisors and Dimensional and Advantis sounds like a poor road to travel, and costly.

What is the total size of your portfolio?

Does Vanguard have VPAS for foreign investors?
