Investing - Theory, News & General • Why all the IRMAA angst? [IRMAA: Resistance is futile]

There are a few different definitions of angst you will find in dictionaries. I had assumed it was intended more in this sense: "(Informal) a feeling of persistent worry about something trivial."
This is more of what I had intended, or perhaps:

"An outsized worry relative to the actual impact it is likely to have on one's quality of life."

If IRMAA is only paid by 7% of folks, I would guess that 4% of those pay at tier 1, 1.5% pay at tier 2, and 1.5% pay at tier 3+, but I have observed people with assets unlikely to reach any of those tiers asking how THEY can avoid this terrible penalty. (Apologies to LilyFleur for the drama) :beer
Is it really that common around here? I don't think this thread shows "an outsized worry" does it?

Again, there are a few very fearful members on this forum. They are probably the same one's who believe in sub 2% withdrawal rates and recommend working till you die at your desk. The thing is, these folks are vocal. Do you really see a large percentage of posters here who have this outsized worry or is it a small minority? Because I agree with you. Paying a bit of an extra tax is not the end of the world. But, if one can find a way to pay less in a reasonable and legal manor, why not try?

I asked you upthread if it is worth taking 1-2 hours of your life to save $1800 in taxes as I did for my parents. You never responded.
