Personal Consumer Issues • "Disputing a bill" on a debit card? What's it like?

Many, many years ago (WaMu days) my debit card number was cloned and used to buy $600 worth of things from a tire shop.

I went into the branch, filed an affidavit and they canceled the card. I got a temporary credit and a month later got a notice stating the credit was final.

It was investigated through Visa and I'm certain it helped that the charge was made in another state and without the PIN. I was a poor college student and $600 was about 50% of my net worth at the time, so it was a huge deal to me.

Lol at people saying "this is why I don't use a debit card" on this thread. No kidding. OP already acknowledged that, and that statement is worthless here.
