I'm suggesting money market funds are more expensive to run. You are now bringing up funds that aren't money market funds, which almost surely have low customer turnover (you should look at annual reports to judge elements of this).
I do accept that turnover may be a factor, thank you. I included both that and the notion that my reference point for low expenses was coming from the non-MMF funds in my OP. Is it unreasonable to wonder why MMFs in IRAs, 403b/401k/457 and 529 accounts would be subject to anything like constant high turnover?
Just the short maturity of the holdings creates the turnover. Putting a fund in a different account doesn't change that.
Ah, understood. I thought we were talking about customer driven turnover, as above, which I took to mean moving money in and out.
