Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Update trust but not wills?

Do you have a pour over will? Is there anything unique about your power of attorney documents?

Assuming there Is nothing particularly unique about your situation as it relates to these documents, it would probably be more cost-effective to have the lawyer prepare documents rather than review your existing documents. Your new lawyer knows exactly what are in their forms, and will likely have a staff person input the data and print them, which would typically be more cost-effective than reading someone else’s documents and doing an analysis of them.

As for the trust, I would expect it to be named “amended and restated…”. This would be particularly pertinent, if you have already titled certain assets into the existing trust.
