A few years ago, I was in Canada when I had to have a triple bypass heart surgery. At the time we had Medicare plus Medigap (Blue Cross). As you know, basic Medicare does not cover any overseas medical situations but Medigap does have a $50K lifetime maximum coverage. Blue Cross paid the $50K to help cover my expenses.
Now, I have Medicare Advantage (IBM based) and I believe all International emergency situations are covered. Although I haven't had to test that theory yet.
