I have an email in my junk folder apparently for the Katz Privacy Settlement.
The links all say www.KatzPrivacySettlement.com
When I hover over the link to see what the underlying URL is, it says
https://t3kzfhdh.r.us-east-1.awstrack.m ... 0/CENSORED
(Edit: I edited the last bit of the URL so nobody else attempts to file a claim on my behalf
Usually when the underlying URL differs from the visible URL, it's a scam email. But occasionally it's valid and just their way of tracking each claimant via the notice ID and confirmation code. As a user, there's no way to tell.
So I'm going to the first URL and filing a claim. It asked for the notice ID and confirmation code in the email. It also knew my email address. So apparently the email was legit despite the inconsistent visible/invisible URL. Go figure.
