I am talking about LENDX from Stone Ridge. I haven't done any research on the Cliffwater fund. Don't know why Larry has made a shift. By the way, Larry is no longer with Buckingham, not sure how you would reach him now. Someone who also posts on Rational Reminder could ask Larry there.WHICH alternative lending fund? He used to recommend Stone Ridge LENDX, but he seems to have shifted his allegiance to Cliffwater's CCLFX. I don't follow his columns and articles regularly; if someone can quote something where he explains the shift, I'd be curious to know about it. More generally, he seems to have de-emphasized Stone Ridge Funds in favor of Cliffwater....My understanding is that the Alternative Lending fund that Larry recommended has also done fairly well...
By the way, I just Googled "What Alternative investments do Advisors recommend?" There were links to Pimco Alternatives,Smart Asset, Morgan Stanley, Institutional Fidelity, Merrill Private Wealth Management, Forbes, CNBC, and Wells Fargo Advisors. That is a lot more than hardly anybody.
Again, not recommending these. I have never owned an Interval Fund but I had Liquid Alts for about 2 1/2 years in a managed account, one was Equity based and the other one was Fixed Income based. The mutual fund company ran up the white flag, sold me out of the funds, and then exited the Alternatives business altogether. They just came with the package, I probably wouldn't have bought these on my own. The two funds were maybe 5% of the account so they had little effect on my account.
