More DYI auto repair for me today. For couple of years my 2011 Chevy Traverse has been making a rattle/knocking noise on drivers' side when hitting road bumps. I recently purchased Lower Front Control Arm Bushing on clearance from Rock Auto for $22 (normally $34) with the hopes this would solve my rattling noise. Worst part of bushing replacement was getting to the bolts thru all the tar undercoating and then knocking the bushing off with dead blow hammer when bolts were removed. Because of this, the job took me ~ 2 hours (should have been < 1 hour) . After laying on my back for two hours I buttoned everything up and will do the other side sometime next week. This is easily a $200 job if done at a local shop, so I am feeling pretty good, and the rattle is now gone. Now I can hear all the other worn suspension components that need replacement. After completing the passenger side control arm bushing, I will be tackling replacement of the front strut coil spring assemblies and sway bar links. Sway bar links have already been procured from Rock Auto on clearance for $16 (normally $25). I like KYB replacement shocks and which are pricey and not often on clearance. I will be placing an order next week from Rock Auto for KYB Strut Coil Assemblies on Oct 1st when my Chase Card is offering 5% cashback using Paypal. I also have a 5% coupon code, so I will be saving 10% next week.
