Let us know what happens is about all you can do.
Should I try to sell the shares I just bought? Or will that create more issues? I have about $100 of short term gain :)
No, absolutely not. You do not own those shares and you will make things much worse by doing that.
OP, I don't think any of us can emphasize this too much.

You need to call Vanguard.
The Vanguard rep was friendly and helpful. They recommended I just sell the shares and explained that the 90 day freeriding restriction is no big deal.

I went ahead and did that, and made $300 on the trade. (I also learned my lesson to deposit the check where I'm going to use the money)
I am glad this worked out, but can you explain how you resolved it? Did you sell the shares you just purchased or something else?
I sold the shares I had just purchased. Easy peasy. Now I have a 90 day free riding restriction which means I can only buy things with settled cash.
