This is only important if you withdraw before 59 1/2, or
if you withdraw more than your total contributions.
The way that I kept track was to either contribute zero or
the max each year and keep track of the years that I
contributed. I could then just look back at the max those years
and add them up.
I'm past 59 1/2 and have had the Roth for more than 5 years, so
I don't need to keep track anymore.
