Well I guess that’s what I will have to do if I want some international. Many say to put it in brokerage account because you can claim the foreign in tax credit but I see that doesn’t amount to much. Live and learn.
I also don't think it's that big of a deal to hold in taxable either. If it's expected to return 2% more due to lower valuations, then that will easily make up for any tax drag due to unqualified status on dividends.
