Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Mother gave all personal info to scammer -- what next?

You don’t mention this, and assuming you’ve likely already done this, but in case not:

As a preventative measure (in addition to the great reactive measures you/others mention), make sure you educate your mother about such scams, and to never give any personal info over the phone — voice, text, chat, etc. — without her being the one to reach out first, and only through an official verifiable contact (e.g. going directly to their website’s known domain). Or better yet, make sure you’re in the loop before/when she does.

Or better still, have you handle all of that stuff, to the extent you can with her authorization.

I currently handle nearly all of my mom’s financial matters, so she just ignores anything regarding that (sometimes to a fault), and lets me handle it.
