Personal Investments • EDITED!! Forced Retirement at 55 w/a Pension and can't contribute to my 401k

Too bad they screwed up and gave you a 401k instead of a 457b like LE and FF typically have, (due to retiring younger than most professions). Govt 457b’s don’t have any age restriction on them unlike the 401k, you just have to be actually retired per your pension plan.

It is especially screwed up if they force you to pull the pin at age 55. Just strange. Are you certain it is actually a 401k, not a 457b? Better double check that…

After that- don’t buy any annuities, life insurance stuff, etc, until you get a better handle on this stuff…

And finally- plenty of agencies would be willing to hire a lateral at 55 yrs of age, maybe not there though. Always an option, as is doing something else. Pretty sure I am the only one of my coworker group who does absolutely nothing after retiring….
